Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Megabit(mb)?

Network transfer rates and download speeds often use the megabit as the amount transferred per time unit — don’t confuse this with megabytes. To achieve a transfer rate of one megabyte (1024kB) per second one needs a network connection with a transfer rate of eight megabits per second.

What does Contention Rate mean?

Contention Rate is the maximum number of other people you will have to share the connection infrastructure with. If all connections were downloading at the same time then your download speed could drop hugely — but in reality this doesn’t happen. This is a theoretical worst case, and as a result you can enjoy much faster download speeds.

Is there an installation charge?

Yes. All Home and Business packages carry an installation charge of £49.99 / €69.99. Enterprise connections have an installation charge that depends on the requirements of each client.
